WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Lake levels are almost full in Central Texas, with Lake Waco and Lake Whitney at 100 percent capacity.

Morgan’s Point Resort Fire-Rescue has been watching out for the changing levels, as Lake Belton sits around 96 percent full.

Fire-Rescue Lieutenant and Mayor James “Jimbo” Snyder was on scene at a rescue on June 1st When a boat ran aground into the island in the lake.

He says even though the driver was experienced, the changing conditions can make the water unsafe for anyone.

“We always recommend that as you start to get closer to the shore and the lower water that you slow your boat down a little bit so give yourself a little bit more of reaction time,” Snyder explained.
