LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The John Smoltz Strikeout Baseball Stadium was unveiled today at Ferris Park, and it’s unlike any baseball stadium you’ve probably ever seen.
The Strikeout Stadium is free to use and designed for pickup baseball. It can be played one-on-one up to five-on-five.
Smoltz told News 10 his dream was to create a facility for neighborhood kids to gather and play pickup baseball like he did growing up in Lansing.
Smoltz was a standout three-sport athlete at Waverly High School and played 21 years in the MLB before being inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame on his first ballot in 2015.
