WATERLOO, Iowa (WATERLOO-CEDAR FALLS COURIER) - A building in downtown Waterloo partially collapsed Thursday, The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports .

The building is located at 325 West Park Avenue. Officials said the building has been vacant for an extended period of time.

The collapse affected the back right corner of the building.

Battalion Chief Ben Petersen with Waterloo Fire Rescue said the remains of the building are not stable.

He also said the building is in an active state of collapse, and needs to be brought to the ground.

Officials have shut down parts of the area near the building due to safety concerns.
