CORNING, N.Y. (WETM) -- In a couple of weeks, the City of Corning Police Department will bid farewell to long-time police dispatcher Mike Watson of nearly 31 years.

Since 1994, the dispatch desk has been occupied by Watson who first started that year on October 31. During his three-decade career at the department, he's crossed paths with many part-time dispatchers who've moved up in their law enforcement careers after working with him. One of them was Kenzie Spaulding who is currently Corning's Police Chief.

"I started as a part-time dispatcher and he was a full-time dispatcher when I started, and so he you know, helped show me the ropes and teach me the dispatching job and it's going to be a huge loss for all of us," Spaulding said.
