WILLIAMS COUNTY, N.D. (KMOT) – A man accused of breaking into the Fort Union Trading Post last month is also accused of threatening to kill former President Barack Obama and hurt three Williston citizens, federal court records say.

A grand jury indicted Ian Stewart on eight felony counts, ranging from burglary to terrorizing to threatening to kill a former United States president.

Authorities in Williams County said Stewart broke into the site before it opened on May 13 and refused to leave. Investigators said he had weapons with him, and he threatened to ‘burn’ the site down and made threats to law enforcement if he encountered them.

The incident prompted a response from local, state and federal officials, and Stewart was taken into custody later in the day.
