NORMAN — For the second consecutive offseason, Patty Gasso has gone to Louisiana to find the presumptive next ace of Oklahoma softball’s pitching staff.

Former LSU pitcher Sydney Berzon is transferring to OU, she announced via Instagram on Friday. A right-handed thrower from Buffalo, New York, Berzon will arrive in Norman with one year of eligibility remaining for the 2026 season.

Berzon went 18-8 with a 2.46 earned run average in 139 ⅓ innings in 2025, with 104 strikeouts to 44 walks. Across her three-year stint at LSU, she went 52-25 with a 2.02 ERA in 486 ⅓ frames, striking out 416 batters and walking 130. She was a second team All-American in 2024 and a third-teamer in 2023.
