Job Corps participants in Little Rock are searching for housing, employment and educational opportunities following the U.S. Department of Labor’s May 30 announcement of a “phased pause” at contractor-operated centers across the country.
Job Corps is a residential program meant to provide training and education for teenagers and young adults ages 16-24. Some program sites are operated by contractors, others directly by the federal government. The labor department’s announcement of the pause last week cited “an internal review of the program’s outcome and structure.”
