INEZ, KY (WCHS) — Many students depend on the meal they get at school to be fed that day, but school is now out for the summer and school districts are taking steps to make sure students are properly fed when they're out on summer break.
During the summer cafeteria workers in Martin County, Kentucky prepare hundreds of meals daily, and for some students it could be the only meal they get that day.
"It helps a lot like in the summer months. If you don't get extra income or whatever, then it kind of helps out with the feeding. You get extra meals for your child in school," said a participant in the Martin County Summer Feeding Program who did not want to be identified.
