GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - What started as a regular evening run for Greenville Mayor P.J. Connelly turned into a heartwarming rescue mission.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Connelly shared that while he was out, he heard a faint cry coming from a storm drain. Upon checking the drain, he discovered a baby deer trapped inside!
Wasting no time, he called the Greenville city manager, who quickly got Animal Protective Services on the scene.
When Connelly returned with a flashlight, the little deer had already scurried away. However, the story didn’t end there, as city employees were able to safely rescue the fawn.
Kudos to the team for their quick action and for reminding us all that sometimes, even during a run, you can stumble upon a little adventure!
