DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine (WABI) - Dover-Foxcroft Police Department will be assisting in escorting the remains of a Maine soldier killed during World War II Saturday.
Pvt. Willard D. Merrill of Dover-Foxcroft was captured by Japanese forces in April 1942 and later died inside of a prisoner of war camp in November 1942.
Merrill will land in Boston and be escorted by Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine State Police.
Dover-Foxcroft Police will join Maine State Police at the state line in escorting Merrill to Lary’s Funeral Home.
They say that arrival time to the funeral home is expected to be around 8 p.m.
People wishing to pay their respects to Merrill and the Merrill Family can stand along South St., Main St., North St., and Summer St.
