LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nearly 90 high school cheerleading students from across the country are at Lincoln Southwest High School for a college combine.
According to BRIGATA Training Facility, the organizers for the event, Nebraska hasn’t had a combine like this in years and none have ever been this big.
Coaches and colleges from around the country are in town scouting out the talent in the gym.
The girls are tested not just on cheer skills, but athletic performance as well with speed tests, vertical jump tests and on how long they can hold a handstand.
“The goal is to inspire athletes to be the best version of themselves. That’s why we’re doing a sports performance test. This is not necessarily a normal thing at a cheer combine, but we’re trying to show these kids that you are athletes.
