Los Angeles will commemorate the second annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day Saturday, joining more than 150 animal shelters across the state, by offering fee-waived adoptions.

The Department of Animal Services, also known as LAAS, will waive adoption fees for dogs and cats using a donation from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. To find the nearest animal shelter, got laanimalservices.com/.

Waived adoption fees for dogs four months and older does not cover a $20 license fee for city residents.

“We work closely and rely on the community, which includes our New Hope Partners, fosters and volunteers to help get the animals in our shelters out,” said Annette Ramirez, interim general manager for LA Animal Services, in a statement.
