OMAHA, Neb. —
Around 100 children of all ages spent their afternoon with Winnie the Pooh and his friends at the hot dog matinee in the upstairs dinner theater in 1985.
The matinees had been running off and on since January 1984, but in June 1985, theater enthusiasts announced that kids would be able to see shows all year round.
"We do it because we think it's a really good introduction to live theater for kids, and it's like a dinner theater. It's live professional theater for children. So, it's like a dinner theater evening scaled down for kids. So, the food is what they like. The preshow appeals to them, and the show is a professional production with children and adult actors. And it's generally subject matter, like Winnie the Pooh," said one of the organizers.
