VIRGINIA, USA — In the past month, the federal government temporarily froze international student visa interviews and have announced that they will require all foreign students to undergo social media vetting during the application process.

“With this ongoing atmosphere of mistrust, and this atmosphere of hostility that’s being created by the Trump administration against international students, I would think twice about coming here," said Tim Gibson, the president of the Virginia Conference of Association of University Professors.

Gibson, also an associate professor at George Mason University, said these actions will lead to a decrease in international students in the United States and will negatively impact the quality of education at American universities.
