A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to restore hundreds of millions of dollars in AmeriCorps grant funding and thousands of service members in two dozen states and Washington, D.C.
U.S. District Judge Deborah L. Boardman writes in an 86-page opinion filed Thursday in the District Court of Maryland that the administration’s decisions to terminate funding and order corps members to return home violate the Administrative Procedure Act.
The agency’s appropriation bill includes a requirement that officials provide public notice and an opportunity to comment before making substantial changes to the service, the Joe Biden appointee writes.
