VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Locals and visitors alike have enjoyed coming to the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier for decades. Now, the Oceanfront staple is celebrating 75 years of fun, fishing and entertainment.
Norfolk resident Veronica Machicotte said she and her sister, Selena, come to the pier every chance they get.
“I like the pier. I like that you can be out on the water,” said Machicotte. “I like that you can see the water through the cracks in the floor."
Machicotte continued, “We’re probably going to go under the pier and see what we can find—maybe some shells. We saw a guy catch a stingray. The guy at the end caught a stingray. He threw it back in the water. That was pretty cool."
