CORNING, NY (WENY) -- A dispatcher in Steuben County is retiring after three decades of service. Michael Watson was 18 years old when he got into a motocross accident that left him permanently disabled. Still, thanks to his support system, he learned how to change his approach to life.
" As far as choosing a career, it wasn’t something I chose but after my accident in May of ‘85, I had an apprenticeship set up for a Mason, but obviously that changed after the accident. I had to figure things out and change things in life as far as what I’d be able to do and how to do it," said Watson, who is retiring from the Corning City Dispatch after 30 years of service.
While it was difficult to recover, Watson said you have two choices in life.
