At Summer Game Fest on Friday, a trailer dropped for the next Game of Thrones adaptation -- and it's a real-time strategy game coming in 2026, putting players in control of armies and heroes made famous in the books and HBO show.
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, as it's called, is from Australian developer Playside Studios (Kill Knight, Age of Darkness: Final Stand). Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive has published many games based on the franchise over the years, from a range of mobile games to the lauded Telltale Games adaptation that featured voice talent from the HBO show.
War for Westeros looks to stand apart from prior adaptations as a strategy game that seems to have both combat fielding armies of units and political clashes in swaying loyalties of bannerman and other forces.
