As temperatures are expected to rise this weekend, many are flocking to local water spots, like Glenn Otto Park, for relief. However, safety officials are urging caution, especially in the water, where currents can be deceptively strong.

Cody Balcazar, a river rescue technician for AMR, highlighted a common issue.

"I'd say the number one reason for us assisting patrons would definitely be that people underestimate the current and the speed of it," Balcazar said.

To prevent accidents, Balcazar emphasized the importance of wearing a life vest, which AMR provides for free.

"It's not embarrassing. No one's gonna make fun of you," he said.
