ORANGE, Texas — A child was taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle Friday, June 6 in the 1300 block of 37th Street near Ridgemont, according to the Orange Fire Department.

Emergency crews responded to the scene where a boy had been hit while on his bike. He was going in and out of consciousness as he was being taken away by the ambulance, fire officials said. The child was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and the impact caused the bicycle to break into pieces.

Acadian Ambulance transported the child to a nearby hospital, according to fire officials at the scene. His current condition is unknown.
