A community-led initiative to improve conditions in the Tenderloin faces an uncertain future after the mayor’s proposed budget contained none of the requested funding, according to the supervisor representing the neighborhood.
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie’s proposal released Friday, didn’t include any of the $4 million requested for projects outlined by the Tenderloin Community Action Plan, an initiative among multiple neighborhood leaders, nonprofits and city departments.
“The Tenderloin has been an underserved community for decades and small investments to the neighborhood through the Tenderloin Community Action Plan have yielded significant improvements to safety, clean streets, and building community,” said Supervisor Bilal Mahmood, whose district includes the Tenderloin, in a
