A Lake Charles artist has a new African American art exhibit on display at Historic City Hall

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A new art exhibit promises visitors an intimate and thought-provoking journey.

The African American artwork by a Lake Charles artist will be on display in the Black Heritage Gallery.

The art exhibit showcases 15 paintings created by Ryann Sterling. She says each painting connects with small details throughout the exhibit.

“When you come in tonight you will see a lot of colors, vibrant colors, you will also see connections to southern culture especially feminine and spirituality of the deep South Louisiana,” said Sterling.

Sterling grew up in Lake Charles and she has had her artwork displayed in the New Orleans African American Museum and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
