GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A Wisconsin native from Oconomowoc who played golf for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay will play in the U.S. Open next weekend.

George Kneiser survived two qualifying stages to earn his first ever U.S. Open start.

The crazy part is, he didn’t start golfing competitively until his sophomore year of high school.

Most professional golfers first hit the ball when they are toddlers, but Kneiser was a late bloomer.

UW-Green Bay’s golf coach, Lee Reinke, remembers first seeing Kneiser play in high school.
