LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A former Louisville Metro Police deputy chief has been named the police chief for the U.S. capitol.
Michael Sullivan began his law enforcement career in Louisville in 1995.
He graduated from the University of Louisville and rose through the ranks before becoming deputy chief until 2019.
He then became the Deputy Commissioner of the Baltimore Police Department in 2019, then moved on to become the interim chief of the Phoenix Police Department in 2022, according to officials.
The capitol police spokesperson said they are confident in Sullivan's experience in leadership and his dedication to accountability.
He will be sworn in June 30.
