Officials at Vernon Elementary are asking for the public’s help in finding a “kidnapped” teacher’s pet. No, not a straight A student. This particular pet is a 4-foot-long python!

The snake, named Monty – (Monty the Python, get it?) – and its aquarium were stolen from a classroom at Vernon Elementary sometime after 9 p.m. Thursday.

The thief used a cart from the classroom to wheel the snake out, along with some snacks. No electronics or valuable merchandise was stolen.

Monty is a 4-foot-long python with light and dark brown markings.
