FREEPORT (WREX) — Police are issuing a heads up to consumers after a skimming device was found on a Freeport ATM.
Freeport Police say an investigation is underway after a card skimming device was found at an ATM at the Walgreens, located at 835 W. Galena Ave., which is at the intersection with N. West Ave.
The skimmer, which was immediately removed after it was found, is designed to steal information from any of the cards that are swiped through the device.
Anyone who used the ATM from Saturday, May 31, to Friday, June 6, should review your bank records for any unauthorized charges. If you find any, you should report then to the Freeport Police Dept. either in person or by calling the non-emergency number at 815-235-8222.
Police say they are trying to identify who put the skimmer there
