Behind the computers, firewalls, and internet systematically connected together was Van Johnson, the head IT director for Teton School District for the past 24 years. As of this June, he’ll be heading south in the winter and taking up his own IT consulting business for his retirement.

Johnson graduated from Grace High School where technology really wasn’t in existence...so he was in college at Utah State when he was introduced to a mathematical model he was working on for technology that changed his life.

The mathematical model involved calculating the economic effect of increasing wilderness in southern Utah, though he has a Master’s degree in Economics, and finished out his Master’s thesis with a model and an interest in the world of technology.
