HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Inspirational speaker, author, and record-setting waterman Chris Bertish is at it again.
His new challenge is called the TransCat Expediton: Oceans Without Borders.
”I think the ocean has taught more than anything I’ve ever learnt in books or universities. It’s been my life teacher,” he said.
In 2010, Bertish won a prestigious big wave surf contest at Mavericks, a surf break in Half Moon Bay, California. In 2017, he became the first and only person to cross the Atlantic Ocean on a standup paddleboard.
Now he’ll attempt to cross the Pacific in a 20-foot catamaran.
”We’ve customized it, making the beams a lot stronger. It has special hatches that we’ve implemented so I can put gear and food and what have you in it,” he said.
