MADISONVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Sheriff Tommy Jones has released detailed footage outlining Elijah Lester Isbill’s in-custody death at the Monroe County Jail.

He spoke to WVLT News Friday about the incident. Isbill died at the Monroe County Jail, but he was taken into custody by the Madisonville Police Department. The police department has refused to comment on the situation, even though WVLT News has reached out more than half a dozen times this week.

“I wish what had happened is there was a committal done and he was taken to the hospital instead of the jail,” Jones said. “That didn’t happen; I wish it had.
