MARION — One of the largest back-to-school giveaways in Southern Illinois, which has helped thousands of children prepare for the classroom, won’t take place this year.

Organizers have announced the cancellation of the 2025 Southern Illinois Back to School Expo, citing mounting costs and a lack of sustainable funding.
