OKLAHOMA CITY — As Oklahoma softball’s 2025 season came to a close Monday night, some of Patty Gasso’s first thoughts went to Cydney Sanders, the Sooners’ senior first baseman whose college career had also just ended.

“I'm really excited for the future, but I was really pumped for Cyd Sanders to have her best softball when it was needed and to finish that way,” Gasso said after OU lost 3-2 to Texas Tech in the Women’s College World Series semifinals.

Sanders had a solid third and final season at Oklahoma. The San Marcos, California native who started her career at Arizona State batted .292 with 13 home runs, 36 runs batted in and 44 walks in the 2025 campaign.
