NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Newton County Sheriff’s Office announced it has added a vending machine that is the first of its kind within the state of Georgia to the Newton County Detention Center.
The vending machine dispenses naloxone, a drug used to reverse opioid overdoses.
The sheriff’s office received the machine through GNR Public Health; GNR Public Health received a $196,800 grant from the Georgia Opioid Crisis Abatement Trust, which will be used to keep the vending machine stocked.
