CHULA VISTA — Rancho Bernardo High School’s road to the Southern California Regional baseball championships included two bus rides to Orange County, thunder, a lightning delay, a rainout and finally a trip to the South Bay.

It also included a run around the bases by Junior Gonzalez on Friday.

Gonzalez slugged a two-run home run in a four-run fifth inning and the No. 8-seeded Broncos upset No. 4-seeded Eastlake 8-5 in the semifinals to earn a trip to Saturday’s Division 2 championship game. RB will play third-seeded Point Loma at 1 p.m. at Dana Middle School.

Rancho Bernardo (20-13-0) earned the right to play Eastlake by beating No. 1-seeded Fountain Valley 4-2 on Wednesday after a trip Tuesday was rained out in the second inning.

Second-seeded Santa Maria St. Joseph was beaten by No. 8
