WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) — One person is dead after deputies responded to a forced entry call on Friday.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a 911 call in reference to a forced entry at a home in the 23000 block of Drake Road on May 6, just before 10 a.m.

A female at the residence was reported to have confronted the suspect before he ran into the woods.

After searching the area, authorities said a K9 officer led them to a home on Pleasant Valley Road.

The sheriff’s office said they found the male suspect who broke into the home on Pleasant Valley Road. The sheriff’s office then said the suspect had a gun and directed it at deputies.

A deputy then shot the suspect and was later pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office reported.
