SALT LAKE CITY — The U.K.-based pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca filed a lawsuit against Utah Attorney General Derek Brown and State Insurance Commissioner Jon Pike over the enforcement of a new state law that allows more pharmacies to get prescription drugs at a discount.
SB69 , introduced in the 2025 legislative session by State Sen. Evan Vickers, R-Cedar City, went into effect May 7. The bill bars drug manufacturers from preventing pharmacies from working with 340B entities, which allows them to get drugs at discounted rates.
“The 340B Program enables covered entities to stretch scarce federal resources as far as possible, reaching more eligible patients and providing more comprehensive services,” The U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration says on its website . “Manufa
