LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - As the University of Louisville took on the University of Miami for the first of a best-of-three Super Regional series, and the fans poured in, so did the rain.

Game one began on a delay at 3:36 p.m., about half an hour after the scheduled start time, due to inclement weather.

Fans who made their way to the stadium early got inside before gates briefly closed due to lightning in the area. Many were stuck waiting outside for almost an hour, donning ponchos and umbrellas to fight off the persistent rain. Most fans stuck it out patiently.

“The weather sucks, but hey, we’re out here having a good time,” Cards fan Jonathan Anderson said.

Some fans stuck it out even longer with tailgates coming down hours before first pitch.
