GOULD, Ark. (KATV) — Latavious Johnson, a death row inmate, was pronounced dead at about 3:30 p.m. at the Varner Supermax in Gould, according to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

The 30-year-old was serving a life sentence for the murder of his father, Johnnie Johnson.

He was charged with first degree murder in 2012, and later received a death sentence for his role in the murder of Barbara Ester, a correctional officer for DOC.

A prison unit was named after Ester's passing.
