An at-risk 69-year-old man was reported missing after being last seen Friday in Downey, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert.

Rafael Cortez was last seen on Friday near Everest and Downey streets at around 7:15 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, which issued the alert on behalf of the Downey Police Department.

Cortez was described as 5 feet tall, weighing 130 pounds, with black hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hat, jacket, a light blue shirt and black pants.

Anyone with information regarding Cortez’s whereabouts was urged to call 911.

The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
