LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A 911 call from a Lafayette woman trying to leave her husband led to an officer-involved shooting that left the man dead last month.

Lafayette police shared the 911 call and police-worn body camera video from the May 1, 2025 incident in the 2800 block of Ravenswood Court in an edited video posted to YouTube June 6.

The video, which comes with a warning for strong language and content, starts with the 911 call from the woman shortly after 9 p.m. on May 1, telling a dispatcher she was trying to get an Uber ride because she wanted to leave her husband, but wanted an officer on standby for protection.

The woman told the officers who were dispatched to the scene that her husband had recently lost his job, was intoxicated and there were firearms in the apartment.
