KENNEWICK, Wash. – National Secure Your Load Day is shedding light on the importance of securing cargo on the road. The campaign aims to prevent accidents and reduce roadside litter by encouraging drivers to properly tie down their loads.

Trooper Daniel Mosqueda from the Washington State Patrol highlighted the dangers of unsecured loads. He stated, "Unsecured loads result in over 300 crashes per year."

Mosqueda emphasized that taking an extra five to ten minutes to secure cargo can prevent these accidents. Mosqueda explained the potential impact of unsecured loads, saying, "At 55 miles an hour, if it weighs 20 pounds, has an impact of 1,000 pounds that can seriously hurt somebody, or even worse."
