LIVONIA, MI – A 31-year-old man was shot by a Metro Detroit police officer on Friday after a confrontation at a local business and taken to a nearby hospital.
The Livonia Police Department responded to the report of a man with a gun near Middlebelt and Five Mile roads at around 2:10 p.m. Friday, June 6. According to a news release , the report indicated the man was behaving erratically while brandishing a gun.
The Michigan State Police Second District, which was later requested to investigate the incident, posted on social media that officers made contact with the 31-year-old inside a business in the 15000 block of Middlebelt.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the man produced a pistol, police said, pointed it at the officer and did not follow the officer’s orders.
