Washington had runners at second and third with two out in the top of the seventh inning against Harrisburg in the softball state semifinal, with the game tied at six.

Warriors senior Claire Woods, who was hitless through 13.2 innings in the tournament, was at the plate with a shot at the state championship on the line. Woods was patient throughout her at-bat, getting to a 2-2 count before blasting the ball off the center left outfield wall for a two-RBI triple that sealed Washington’s 8-6 semifinal win over Harrisburg.

“I was just praying that I could get a hit,” Woods said. “I was praying, and God had his timing, so he knew this was the moment. I made contact and I saw it fly, so I was like, I'm going to run as fast as I can, get as far as I could.”
