CHAPEL HILL — It’s hard to believe UNC baseball trailed against Arizona in Game 1 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional.

After giving up a run in the opening frame, the Tar Heels throttled the Wildcats in a 18-2 victory to move one step closer to the College World Series.

UNC (45-13) scored eight runs across the first two innings to set the stage in another staggering offensive performance. The Tar Heels had 17 hits, with five players logging multiple base knocks.

Gavin Gallaher, the Most Outstanding Player of the Chapel Hill Regional in consecutive seasons, continued his blistering pace at the plate. Gallaher led UNC with four hits, adding two RBIs. Hunter Stokely had three hits and five RBIs, including a three-run homer. Luke Stevenson had four RBIs and Sam Angelo had three RBIs.
