INDIANAPOLIS – The 121st version of the Boys Track and Field State Finals was an historic one – participants broke six meet records, the most in a single state meet since 1980, the first year the metric system was used.

With that backdrop, Warsaw made some history of its own, scoring 34 points, a program record for the meet, and setting multiple Tiger event records. That performance led to a fifth-place finish Friday at North Central, one spot shy of the best the team has ever done.

“Things just went really well tonight,” Warsaw coach Scott Erba said. “I’m just really proud of the guys to come down here and compete that well, because there’s been other times we’ve gotten into bigger meets and we haven’t performed as well as we anticipated. It was a great end-of-the-season finish.”
