NEW ORLEANS — More than $3 million in donations has been distributed to survivors and families affected by the tragic , according to the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF). The tragedy happened after a pickup truck struck a crowded French Quarter street, killing 14 people and injuring many others.

GNOF, in partnership with local leaders and national nonprofits, established the New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund to support those impacted by the attack. The fund was created at the request of Mayor LaToya Cantrell and managed by a steering committee to ensure fair and thoughtful allocation of the donations.

The committee received 77 applications and approved 66.

Around 3,000 donations poured in from individuals, businesses, and organizations, including major contributors such as Ochsner Health
