PEND OREILLE COUNTY, Wash. — Pend Oreille County Sheriff's Office (POCS) Deputies say a 48-year-old man from Newport named John L. Rosen was arrested for murder on the first and second degree, first degree kidnapping, first degree rape and unlawful imprisonment.

POCS deputies responded to a welfare check Thursday night on Fertile Valley Road after getting a report from the Spokane County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).

SCSO told POCS of a report of a woman who was being held against her will and a dead man was nearby in Pend Oreille County.

POCS says they arrived on the scene to see a man at the end of his driveway. The man showed the deputies around the property and they found a woman chained to prevent her from leaving, as well as a dead man who was near her.

POCS says they detained two men
