HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Friday morning’s deadly motorcycle crash on Pali Highway is the 31st traffic fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 14 at the same time last year.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, more pedestrians and motorcyclists were killed in crashes in 2025.
Their statistics point to three main factors: distractions, speeding, and impairment.
HPD officials said that since the department started boosting night enforcement to stop illegal racing events, speed-related arrests are up 20% on Oahu.
Police are also seeing more motorcycle riders speeding and not wearing helmets, an often deadly combination in the event of a crash.
