DENVER (KDVR) — Two men, from neighboring states, are using their love of trains to get them closer to Mother Nature.

Bruce Brackley and Derek Brown first met in 2019 and soon formed a friendship over trains and storm chasing.

"He's my brother from another mother," said Brackley.

Friday, the two ventured out to Limon to catch a departing train. Instead, they ended up witnessing a large, arriving storm.

Wearing fluorescent vests, the pair relies on their late-model truck and cell phone technology to track and get within a safe distance of wet weather.

Safety always supersedes proximity.

“You gotta be careful, those storms move so fast,” said Brown.

“Just be careful when you’re on the highway,” adds Brackley.
