COLUMBUS, Ohio — In honor of National Gun Violence Awareness Day, the City of Columbus was one of several cities holding vigils or other events.
City Hall will be lit up in orange for the weekend as everyone is encouraged to wear orange in honor of those who have been lost to gun violence .
Inside City Hall on Friday, bags with flameless candles were lined up along with the names of those no longer with us because of gun violence. Several pictures of those victims were also on display.

Columbus and Franklin County leaders shared the work their respective offices are doing within the community to make strides toward ending gun violence.
So far this year, there have been 31 homicides in the city, 28 of which were due to gun violence.
