MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - People can expect to see a lot more Madison Police officers on the roads this summer. The Madison Police Department (MPD) is cracking down on traffic safety.

The focus on traffic safety enforcement will run until September 1 and will take place in every district. MPD said they will focus on dangerous driving behaviors like speeding, unsafe lane merging and running red lights.

“It’s a lot more fun to be outside and driving around,” Madison Police Officer Anthony Vogel said about driving during the warmer months. “But increased traffic obviously creates a concern for dangerous driving behavior and also a concern for accidents.”
